Your care journey

Asking for help should be the hardest part. We’re here to make the rest as clear and straightforward as possible — and to help you feel prepared before your first visit.

Getting started

What to expect when you reach out

First, we’ll learn what kind of care you’re looking for. Whether you’re interested in medication management, therapy, or another treatment option, we’ll help guide you to the right next step and find an appointment that fits your needs.

We’ll ask a few questions before scheduling. This may include your treatment goals, any current diagnoses or medications, insurance information, scheduling preferences, and relevant medical history. We’ll also confirm whether you prefer telehealth or an in-person appointment. Most appointments are offered via telehealth, with limited in-person availability.

Some situations may require a little extra coordination. Depending on your needs and history, we may request previous medical records or have additional information reviewed before scheduling to help ensure we’re able to provide the appropriate care.

Once you’re scheduled, we’ll send everything you need to get started. You’ll receive instructions for accessing the patient portal and completing your new patient paperwork, along with details about your appointment.

One important deadline: New patient paperwork must be completed within 48 business hours of scheduling. Appointments may be canceled if required paperwork isn’t completed by the deadline.

Why CHOOSE EMERALD?

What sets Emerald apart

Emerald Psychiatry combines clinical expertise with compassion and curiosity.

First grade through seniors. Children, adolescents, adults, veterans, seniors, and LGBTQ+ patients — all with the same level of clinical care.

Medication management and therapy all under one roof means your care is thorough and coordinated.

Sometimes the obvious solutions don't work. TMS and Spravato can be life-changing for those with treatment-resistant depression.

FAQ

Common questions about getting started with Emerald Psychiatry

How do I schedule?

Visit our Book Now page or call 614-580-6917. Most new patients are seen within days. We don't make you wait months — that's a commitment, not a tagline.

What insurance do you accept?

Most major plans — including Anthem, Aetna, Cigna, CareSource, Medical Mutual, Humana, Tricare, Medicare, and Medicaid. Call our billing team to verify before your first visit.

Can I do appointments online?

Yes. Telehealth is available for medication management, therapy, and counseling — securely, via HIPAA-compliant video. From anywhere in Ohio.

What if I'm in crisis?

If you're in immediate danger, call 911. For mental health crisis support, call or text 988 — the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7. For urgent but non-emergency concerns, call our office and we'll do our best to see you quickly.

Do you treat children?

Yes — from first grade through adulthood. ADHD, anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, and more. We work with families to create plans that are realistic and that fit how families actually live.
