SPECIALIZED APPROACHES

EMDR, CBT, DBT

We use techniques including EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) to help process distressing memories from trauma, CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) to identify and reshape unhelpful thought patterns, and DBT (dialectical behavior therapy) to build skills in emotional regulation and healthier relationships.

HEALING FROM THE PAST

Trauma-informed care

Healing from trauma requires a particular kind of safety — one built on trust, consistency, and a pace that's yours. Our therapists bring both the clinical training and the patience this work requires.

FAQ

Common questions about getting started with Emerald Psychiatry

What happens in my first session?

We start where you are. Your first appointment is about understanding what brought you here — your history, what you've already tried, and what you actually want from care. You'll meet your therapist, share what matters most, and together outline a path forward that makes sense for you.

How long does therapy usually take?

That depends on you and what you're working through. Some people find meaningful relief in a matter of weeks. Others benefit from longer-term work. We check in regularly about progress and adjust as needed. There's no rush — only what works.

Is everything I say confidential?

Yes, with rare exceptions required by law — which we'll explain upfront. What you share stays between us. Trust is the foundation of real therapy, and we don't take it lightly.

Do you take my insurance?

We accept most major insurance plans and work to make care as affordable as possible. Our team can verify your specific coverage before your first visit. If cost is a concern, tell us — we'll find a way forward.

Can I do therapy online?

Yes. Telehealth therapy works well for many people. Same provider, same quality, different location. Some prefer being in the room; some prefer the distance of a screen. We offer both, and you can switch.
